Yom Tov Sheni Kehilchato 1: note 17 writes based on Mishna Brura 299:40 that you cant do any melacha before praying arvit on the night of yom tov sheni. therefore, he says women who don't pray, should wait until the men get home from shul to begin cooking. These are the words of the mishna brura there: ולהביא יין ביו"ט שני אחר שחשכה אף שלא התפלל עדיין וגם לא קידש אפ"ה שרי דהא אין בזה משום מלאכה רק משום הכנה מיו"ט לחבירו וכיון שנתקדש היום שרי. Does anyone argue that they can prepare earlier, once the time comes?
